Cyprus has taken a significant step towards safeguarding employee privacy and promoting work-life balance.

Our Associate, Stavroula Nicolaou, explores the newly issued Directive No. 1/2025 by the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, which clarifies when – and if – personal mobile phones can be used for work-related purposes.

The Directive reinforces that employees cannot be obliged to use personal devices and lays out clear employer obligations and alternative solutions when such use is declined.
