Modernizing International Arbitration Law in Cyprus – Asian Dispute Review

We are proud to share that Marina Hadjisoteriou, Partner – Head of International Disputes, has contributed an insightful article to the October 2025 edition of the Asian Dispute Review.

Her article, titled “Modernizing International Arbitration Law in Cyprus”, explores the evolving arbitration landscape in Cyprus and provides a clear overview of recent legislative progress and upcoming reforms.

The discussion covers:

  • The framework for Cyprus-seated international arbitration, following the adoption of the UNCITRAL Model Law by legislation passed in 1987;

  • The 2024 amendments aligning Cyprus’s arbitration legislation with the 2006 version of the Model Law;

  • The recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards under the New York Convention; and

  • The ongoing consultation on a draft arbitration bill expected to modernise the national framework, with a new Arbitration Law anticipated by late 2025 or early 2026.

This contribution highlights Marina’s expertise in international arbitration and reaffirms the firm’s active engagement in the ongoing development of the arbitration framework in Cyprus.
