We are pleased to announce that our Executive Chairman, Stavros Pavlou, will be one of the distinguished speakers at the upcoming online seminar organised by the International and European Law Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association.
The webinar, titled “Jurisdiction and applicable law in civil and commercial disputes with foreign elements,” will take place on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00.
This specialised seminar will explore the key legal principles governing jurisdiction and applicable law in civil and commercial disputes with cross-border or foreign elements. Participants will gain valuable insights into the legislative and case-law framework that shapes transnational litigation, including:
- Regulation (EU) 1215/2012 (Brussels I Recast) – jurisdiction and recognition/enforcement of judgments
- Regulation (EU) 593/2008 (Rome I) – applicable law in contractual obligations
- The international and national legal framework relating to jurisdiction and applicable law in human rights violation cases
Stavros Pavlou will present and discuss the “Basic Principles for the Choice of Jurisdiction for the Resolution of Disputes in Contracts with Foreign Elements”.
