We were delighted to have our Executive Chairman, Stavros Pavlou, participate as a speaker at the international conference “Specialisation – A Trend in International Commercial Arbitration”, organised by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Cyprus Branch.
Held on 25 June 2026 at the Landmark Hotel in Nicosia, the conference brought together distinguished representatives from arbitral institutions, the legal profession, government, industry and academia to discuss the evolving landscape of international commercial arbitration.
Organised in the context of the official visit of CIArb President, Dr Cesar Pereira, the conference explored the growing importance of specialisation in international arbitration and its role in enhancing the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of dispute resolution. The programme featured insightful discussions on the increasing demand for industry-specific expertise, the impact of technical knowledge on arbitral proceedings, emerging challenges and opportunities, and the future direction of international arbitration in an increasingly complex global environment.
Stavros, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the CIArb Cyprus Branch, participated in Panel 4, titled “The Role of the Institutions to Meet the New Challenges?”.
The panel was moderated by Dr Cesar Pereira, President of CIArb, and featured an esteemed panel of international arbitration practitioners, including Philip Landolt, Theo Demetriou, Saad Hegazy, Stelios Gregoriou and Stavros Pavlou. Together, they shared valuable insights into how arbitral institutions are responding to the evolving demands of international dispute resolution and the increasing need for specialised expertise.
With more than four decades of experience in commercial litigation, international arbitration and cross-border disputes, Stavros continues to play an active role in the international arbitration community through his leadership positions, professional appointments and participation in high-profile international events, such as this one. These endeavors reflect Patrikios Legal’s ongoing commitment to contributing to international arbitration, cross-border dispute resolution and thought leadership.
